The role of geometric phase in dissociation dynamics of the molecule

Abstract: This work explores the role of geometric phase (GP), which results from light induced conical intersection (LICI), in photodissociation process of the D þ 2 molecule through solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. The dissociation results between two cases including GP and excluding GP are compared. Different from the case including GP, the angular distribution of photofragments excluding GP is nonvanishing at θ ¼ π=2 which is the angle between the molecular axis and the polarization direction of lase… Show more

“…Unlike indirect spectroscopic features, the observing associated GP signatures can provide an opportunity for the unambiguous detection of LICIs. 19,20,[35][36][37] In this paper, we propose a feasible two-color strong field photodissociation scheme to directly reveal the GP effects for D 2 + molecules introduced by LICIs. The probe scheme is based on the detection of the momentum distribution and kinetic energy release (KER) of D 2 + with random orientation, where the initial conditions of D 2 + can be experimentally prepared through strong field ionization of its parent neutral molecule.…”
