Abstract:This paper uses a multi-energy system model based on mixed integer programming to analyse the effect of different flow temperatures and regulatory conditions on the utilisation of heat pumps in the heat supply of residential buildings. The analysis shows that the best option to promote heat pumps as an efficient technology for renewable-based heating is to reduce flow temperatures of heating systems rather than subsidising the electricity consumption.
