In modern realities of enterprises functioning, methods that keep management records play an important role. Therefore, it is always relevant to assess effectiveness of existing methods, find opportunities for their improvement or consider new accounting instruments. In this work, the emphasis is on the analysis of strategic management tools within the framework of the Republic of Tajikistan and the country's agricultural sector, the reason for which is its significant role in the effective development of the state's economy. Thus, the purpose of the work is to show the principles of choosing strategic accounting tools at agricultural enterprises in Tajikistan and to assess their effectiveness. Analysis was the main research method in the research; in addition, modelling, abstraction, historical approach and other tools played an important role. The work analysed the main features of accounting in the Republic of Tajikistan in the context of modern strategic management at agricultural enterprises. The article also briefly describes the current state of the agricultural sector, its role in the functioning of the country's economy and its development prospects. In addition, the features of three main strategic methods of cost management were analysed, namely, “standard costing”, “direct costing” and Activity Based Costing; the work describes advantages and disadvantages a company can receive using one of these methods. The article adds new knowledge to the concepts of modern strategic management, in particular in the context of agricultural enterprises, and also allows better understanding of the peculiarities of Tajikistan’s economic development and methods of accounting in this country

The topic of how oil and gas extraction impact on economic development of nations is well researched, especially African oil-producing countries. Literature has revealed that countries endowed with natural resources tend not to grow in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) compared to their counterparts with limited or no such natural resources. This phenomenon has been characterized as the paradox of plenty. The study sought to evaluate the economic impact of oil and gas extraction in Ghana. The study utilized the quantitative research approach with secondary data from World Bank Development Indicators, 2019. Johansen Co-integration Approach was also used to evaluate the extent of causality between oil production (revenues) and the various economic variables. The Johansen Co-integration test revealed that oil revenue exerts a significant effect on Ghana’s GDP (4% higher than the average GDP before the production of oil and gas). Meanwhile, the average agriculture value-added and service value-added of Ghana for the period after the production of oil is lower than the average agriculture value-added and service value-added for the period before the production of oil in commercial quantities. The study used Ghana as a case study which somehow limits its findings. Future studies may use a panel model to do a cross-country analysis of the impact of oil and gas production on the various sectors of the respective countries. Government should formulate and expand policies (such as planting for food and jobs, and agricultural mechanization) that will help grow the agricultural and service sectors of the economy using oil revenues. The study also recommends that the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) should closely monitor and collaborate with the petroleum revenue management institutions to ensure that oil revenues allocated to the government priority sectors, especially agriculture and service, are fully implemented. This study differs from prior studies (novel) because it aimed to determine the impact of oil and gas extraction on agricultural, industrial, and service sectors before and after oil and gas production. Does Loan Size Matter in How Collateral Characteristics Relate to Credit Access?

The study examined the moderating role of loan size on the relationship between collateral characteristics and access to credit by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agricultural sector of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. In the agricultural sector, MSMEs engaged in crop, livestock, and fish farming constituted the population for the study. The study employed a quantitative research method alongside a causal research design. The Pearson multiple regression was employed to analyze the relationships among the study variables. The study found that collateral costs, registration, and insurance positively and significantly contribute to MSMEs’ credit access. Whereas loan size does not moderate the effect of collateral cost on farmers’ credit access, it negatively and significantly moderates the effect of collateral registration and insurance on credit access. Furthermore, loan size positively and significantly moderates the effect of collateral age on farmers’ access to credit. The study was restricted to MSMEs in crop, livestock, and fish farming in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, thus making generalization to the country and beyond difficult. This study is important for decision-making concerning how farmers could take advantage of their collateral to secure appreciable loans in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. No empirical study has examined the moderating role of loan size on the relationship between collateral characteristics and credit access, aside from the fact that empirical studies dominate other sectors other than the agricultural sector.
