The Role of the Immune System in the Pathogenesis of Diabetic Nephropathy

Abstract: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most common cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in adults. Despite our current understanding of the disease, we cannot accurately predict which patients with diabetes will develop nephropathy, and we cannot halt the progression to ESRD.
