The role of the ‘negativity’ factor in international news coverage: A case study of Latin America in the German press, 2000–2014

Abstract: This paper analyses the predominance of the ‘negativity’ factor as the primary determinant of news coverage in the German press – Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Die Tageszeitung and Der Spiegel – of events in Latin America.
