Rice farming in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency has developed quite well in its production, however, in terms of marketing; farmers need a support that provides a better bargaining position and creating a promising level of profit. This research aims to analyzing the level of farmer empowerment for rice marketing and analyzing the relationship between marketing factors and farmer empowerment for rice marketing in Hamayung Village, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency. The research results show that the level of farmer empowerment for rice marketing is classified as moderate. Apart from that, from several marketing factors analyzed, based on the results of this research, the ability to determine markets, the ability to study demand and the ability to determine prices have a significant relationship with the level of farmer empowerment. Meanwhile, the ability to plan products and promotional marketing communication does not have a significant relationship with the level of farmer empowerment.

Pro-poor tourism (PPT) is revealed as a significant means of reducing poverty. However, inadequate awareness about the relationship between the poor local communities and the perceived benefits deriving from the tourism MSEs prevents the application of the PPT approach. Thus, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this paper examines how tourism Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) benefit poor communities. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect data from 25 participants through semi-structured questionnaires and using NVivo12 software data was analyzed. The study found that the economic benefits focus on the standard of living, employment, tourism network and business expansion while social recognition and environmental awareness, which have a big impact on society, are marked as the novel outcomes which trigger the local communities for being engaged in tourism MSEs as non-economic benefits. This study could help the policymakers of developing countries to eradicate poverty and achieve Sustainable Development Goals 1 and 2 (Zero Poverty and No Hunger).

The Bangladesh tourism industry faces a growing challenge in waste management, which poses a threat to environmental and public health. Despite economic growth, Bangladesh struggles with managing solid waste, with traditional landfilling polluting soil and water. Hospitality waste management is particularly challenging due to the unique types of waste generated by hotels, resorts, restaurants, and eco-lodges. This chapter examines waste-to-energy (WtE) integration in the country's hospitality sector using secondary research, academic journals, industry reports, and government publications. WtE technologies, such as anaerobic digestion, gasification, and incineration, can help reduce landfilling and provide renewable energy for hospitality facilities. The chapter explores the challenges of solid waste management in Bangladesh, focusing on organic waste, paper, plastics, and glass. It evaluates WtE technologies' potential for hospitality establishments, highlighting their significance in resolving waste management issues and ensuring sustainable tourism development.
