z issues and exploring potential solutions to problems that practitioners observe in their daily work.The sessions of 13th international 2023 SedNet conference addressed various aspects of sediment management such as sediment quality and health, exploring innovative solutions for sustainable sediment use and the circular economy, inspiring case studies and innovative practices of coastal and marine management, assessments and adaptations to climate change impacts, and sediment policies review and proposals for policies adjustments. The need to improve public knowledge about sediments is one of the topics that the Sednet community has prioritized in its agenda. This might include activities such as specially developed training courses, master classes, educational games, movies, animations etc. Therefore, in this special issue, in addition to selected research papers which are briefly presented below, we also present for the first time a paper that shows an example of good practice aimed at raising the sediment literacy among our youngest.
