As dificuldades para se determinar as posições dos dentes anteriores superiores são imensas 7,21 , visto que, as condições de reabsorção alveolar na maxila ocorre com maior intensidade na tábua óssea vestibular, ocasionando uma diminuição do seu diâmetro látero-lateral, em comparação com a mandíbula 3,9,18 , o quê, por si só, já seria um fator agravante para a estabilidade e, também, para a determinação correta das posições dos dentes anteriores superiores, pois a localização da crista óssea original dificilmente seria encontrada. Os métodos tradicionais, principalmente aqueles que se utilizam do posicionamento do lábio superior como referência para os incisivos superiores 3,30 , são extremamente prejudicados pela atrofia dos lábios, em virtude da falta de suporte adequada que seria dado pelos dentes naturais e osso alveolar na região vestibular.…”
