The Selection of Optimal Reversible Two-Speed Planetary Gear Trains for Machine Tool Gearboxes

Abstract: The application of multi-criteria optimization to two-carrier two-speed planetary gear trains is outlined in this paper. In order to determine the mathematical model of multi-criteria optimization variables, the objective functions and conditions must be determined first. Two-carrier two-speed planetary gear trains with brakes on coupled shafts are analyzed in this paper. The mathematical model covers the determination of the set of the Pareto optimal solutions as well as the method for selecting an optimal so… Show more

“…Optimization of the bond stress. Optimization is one of the most important tasks that engineers deal with in order to produce the best or nearly the best solutions under given constraints [41,31,22,32,36,35,12,7]. The optimization of the 3-D printed object was first discussed in Ref.…”

“…One way to avoid increasing the number of gear stages is to develop rational designs [8]. The authors consider that it is appropriate to develop such structures on the basis of modules of two-carrier PGTs with two compound and four external shafts [9][10][11]. Practice has shown that the most suitable building element for compound PGTs is the simple (single-carrier) PGT with one external, one internal mesh, and with one-rim planets [5] (Fig.…”
