The Self-Reduction during the Thermal Decomposition of an Ammonium Molybdate

Abstract: In the hydrometallurgical process of molybdenum using ammonia solution, ammonium paramolybdate tetrahydrate (APT: (NH4)6Mo7O24·4H2O) is produced as an intermediate product after a crystallization step. ATP is then thermally decomposed at a high temperature to give MoO3, which is reduced by hydrogen gas in a two-stage process to reduce molybdenum metal powder as the final product.
