“…CE is endemic in Middle East countries and have been reported from Iraq (Saeed et al, 2000), Kuwait (Hassounah and Behbehani, 1976), Saudi Arabia (Ibrahim, 2010), Iran (Ahmadi, 2005;Sadjjadi, 2006;Daryani et al, 2007;Adinehbeigi et al, 2012). Presence of echincococcosis in livestock can be suspected through a previous study (Idris et al, 1999) where 1 out of 306 human and 5 out of 390 camel sera were found positive for cystic hydatosis by indirect haemagglutinition assay. Furthermore, data from the Ministry of Health (MOH) indicated the presence of clinical cases in human (12 diagnosed cases in the last 5 years all over Oman) and recently, we have reported the incidence of CE in the slaughtered goats in Oman (Al-Kitani et al, 2014).…”
