“…Despite an increase in the number of ADR reports in our hospital between 2017 and 2019, only a few ADR reports described topical administration of drugs in the eye, ear, nose, or throat as the route and type of drug administration suspected to trigger ADRs. Although our institution is an eye, ear, nose and throat speciality hospital, our ADR reports were similar to those from other medical institutions, with the majority of ADRs being caused by antibacterial drugs and patented Chinese medicines 25,26 . Nonetheless, the number of reports for these topical medications should be higher than reported based on the incidence of ADRs in these marketed drug profiles.…”

“…The results showed that the proportion of pediatric patients with multiple disease was only 5.80%, identical to the expected result. Some studies in adults demonstrated that suffering from multiple diseases is a risk factor for SADRs ( 26 ), and might correlate with the decrease in drug metabolism or the damage to liver and kidney functions. Interaction among diseases might result in poor physical, emotional and social functions ( 27 ).…”

“…On the other hand, there was a small proportion of the respondents who believed that they were not at risk of AMR infection. Antimicrobials, however, are responsible for more than half of all medical adverse effects, according to the China Adverse Reaction Monitoring Center ( 26 ). The increasing cases of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria caused by improper use of antimicrobials have also been observed in recent years ( 27 ).…”
