The gene pool formation of the modern domestic breeds of pig Sus scrofa domestica and their genesis based on hybridization of wild ancestral forms of the European and Asian origin were studied using molecular immunogenetic methods. Males of the European and Central Asian S. scrofa subspecies ( S. s. scrofa and S. s. nigripes were hybridized with domestic pigs of the Swedish Landrace and Vietnamese Black Masked breeds. In addition, we examined the genotypic structure of 65 wild, aboriginal, and local populations as well as cultured breeds, including the stock breeds with different levels of selection. Frequencies of alleles and suballelles of the chromosome 4 locus controlling antigens of the L blood group system were analyzed. The origin of marker suballeles of the European and Asian origin was estimated in the most widespread world pig breeds. Unexpectedly, a strikingly high frequency of the Asian elements was found in the most productive European and American breeds, as well as in the best breeds of Russia and other CIS countries. Only one form of heterozygosity ( bcgi/bdfi ) was found in a population of wild European ancestors, whereas domestic pig breeds displayed heterozygosity for far more numerous suballeles of the locus studied. Animals with heterozygosity for alleles of the European and Asian origin showed higher adaptivity and fertility.

The long term immunocytogenetically controlled intersubspecific hybridization of domestic pig breeds and wild pigs of European and Asian origin has brought about a new breed population of very small dwarf laboratory pigs that can be used in medicine and biotechnology. The first Russian population of supers mall microsibs is unique in the karyotypic polymorphism in the chromosome set (2n = 36, 37, or 38), as well as unusually short form of the lachrymal bone (os lacrimale) that is not found in any domestic pig breed, very early reproductive prematurity, and specific immunogenic features of the concentrations of the alleles of the EAA, EAD, EAE, EAF, EAG, and EAL blood type loci. Supersmall mini pigs allow one to model a wide range of medical and biotechnologic researches most adequately and economically.

The article considers the possibility of connection of KIT and MC1R loci with prenatal growth of mini pigs of the breeding group of Institute of Cytology and Genetics, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICG SB RAS). It is assumed that this relationship may be the result of increased variability of the sign – the mass of the newborn pig in heterozygous according to the loci of individuals. Since prenatal growth is affected by a number of factors that affect the weight of the newborn pig, instead of the absolute value of the sign – the mass of the individual in kilograms, a relative one was used, which is the ratio of the mass of a particular individual to the average mass of the individual in the nest in which it was born. The study showed that mini-pigs of ICG SB RAS have a relationship between heterozygosity at MC1R and KIT loci and increased concentration of individuals in the modal class of relative weight distribution at birth. The discovered relationship is the result of the interaction of increased variability of mass at birth in individuals’ heterozygous loci, controlling intracellular metabolism, with the vector of phenotypic realization of the genetic potential of growth of individuals in the prenatal period. The decomposition of the specified vector into components showed that optimizes forming the kurtosis variation of the number of components dominate in individuals with domestication coat color, while in individuals with pseudoagouti coat color – biasing, forming the asymmetry of the distribution. The results of the study also showed that the genotypes at the loci MC1R and KIT do not affect the competitive relationship between the fetuses during the prenatal period . In addition, the analysis of the consistency of the estimates of individual classes of variational series of individuals of different races to a normal distribution showed that the mini pigs of ICG SB RAS alleles present low weight at birth, inherited from the Vietnamese breeds , and alleles of the high mass at birth, inherited from the Large White and/or Danish Landrace breed.
