This paper offers a response to Dr Noriyuki Inoue’s article published in this issue of the International Journal for Transformative research, entitled The role of subjectivity in teacher expertise development: Mindfully embracing the “black sheep” of educational research. Inoue freely uses the terms ‘subjectivity’ and ‘objectivity’; but referring to findings from quantum physics and consciousness studies, both of which challenge the view that it is possible to observe a world that exists independently of the observer, I ask whether the Japanese concepts of jikkan and ba actually also suggest that it is not possible to separate and define subjective and objective dimensions of reality.

Theory U is a process-driven, learning, progress-directed, transformative, and relational approach to social change. This approach is predicated on the idea that spirituality may be used to create communal consciousness through change management. Dealing with spiritual hurdles, practicing meditation, improving sensing, staying in flow, and conceiving are just a few of the special skills needed for success on the U-journey. Spiritual intelligence also includes adaptive problem solving and goal achievement approaches. Theory-U holds that sources other than the outmoded paradigms that gave rise to complex problems are where answers to them must come from. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how individuals exposed to workplace spirituality can make better use of their spiritual intelligence. By using spiritual intelligence, people can attain the kind of awareness and engagement required for collective awareness, and this makes sense when we examine awareness awakening processes from the perspective of the U-journey.

It is necessary to define factors that affect the process of shaping future teachers’ spiritual worldview. The knowledge factors influencing the formation of a spiritual worldview allow us to elicit the most effective ways and means to shape future teachers’ professional self-awareness. Therefore, this paper is devoted to studying factors that play an important role in future teachers’ spiritual worldview formation. Reflection determines the prerequisites and consequences of the future teachers’ spiritual worldview. It is noted that only a spiritually rich teacher can solve the problems of modern education. Eighteen factors for forming future teachers’ spiritual worldviews are revealed. The authors briefly describe the contributions of various scientific disciplines to this topic, which are widely used in modern science, especially pedagogical and psychological ones. The authors do not rely on any religious experience, aspects, or approaches. There can always be an influence of subjectivity and the prevalence of religious approaches over scientific concepts in such an approach. In conclusion, findings regarding the factors involved in forming future teachers’ spiritual worldviews are presented.
