Se presenta una revisión de la literatura reciente, con exclusión de la latino-americana, de algunos factores que influyen en la morfología de la pelvis y de los vicios pélvicos, tales como: raza, nutrición, herencia, soma y hormonas. Luego se analiza la estrechez pélvica, a través de sus aspectos de apreciación: morfología, diámetros de los diferentes estrechos, áreas e índices de los mismos y sus combinaciones, obtenidos de la mensuración radiológica.Son revisados algunos conceptos recientes sobre la prueba, así como sus resultados materno-fetales.Como contribución personal, se hace un estudio de 1.088 radiopelvimetrías (técnica de Snow) de rutina, realizadas en la clientela privada, en las cuales se encontraron 216 pelvis estrechas, o sea un 19.8%. La mayoría de las estenosis corresponden al estrecho medio. El pronóstico radiológico fue correcto en el 68% de los casos, en los cuales se previeron dificultades. En estas pelvis estrechas se observó un aumento de las pelvis antropoides. El parto terminó espontáneamente o por fórceps bajo en 51.7%, por cesárea en 26.8% y por fórceps medio en 24.6% . Hubo 1 muerte materna por accidente anestésico y 1 mortalidad perinatal de 0.9%.Se insiste en el valor de la radiopelvimetría.
