This research was conducted conducted because there are still cases of accidents at PT. Samudra Oceaneering Batam by restricted work category in 2019 which resulted in the victim being unable to carry out his main job and had to be transferred to another job of an administrative nature, and the time lost from the accident is two working days. The consequences of these work accidents not only have an economic and social impact on the company but also have a moral impact on both the employee concerned and his co-workers. This also shows that the achievement of OHS performance has not been maximized by PT. Samudra Oceaneering Batam which can lead to a bad perception of company owners regarding OHS management in the workplace. The aim of this study was to explore the variables that affect the OHS performance at PT. Samudra Oceaneering Batam, so as to reduce the number of work accidents which in turn improves OHS performance. The methodology used in this study uses quantitative methods. The population in this study were all employees of PT. Samudra Oceaneering Batam at all levels with a total of 135 employees and the sample involved in this study was 101 respondents using the Likert scale method. The results of the questionnaire then were processed using SEM SmartPLS. The results of the SmartPLS quantitative data analysis can be concluded that the variable of safety culture has a positive but less significant effect on OHS performance, while employee behavior has a positive and significant effect on OHS performance. Other variables such as leadership style have a positive and significant effect on employee behavior and management commitment has a positive and significant effect on safety motivation. Meanwhile the variable of employee motivation has a negative and insignificant effect on OHS performance.

Although Dahongshan Copper Mine, a subsidiary of Chinalco Co., Ltd., has a large production scale, it is still a non-ferrous metal underground mine with low mechanization and labor efficiency due to its early production. In recent years, mines have carried out a large number of beneficial scientific explorations and practices on production safety management. According to their own actuality, they have combined production safety with scientific management. They have done meticulously and solidly, ensuring that the safety situation continues to be good. There have been no serious injury accidents, let alone work-related accidents for two consecutive years. The injury rate of thousands of people is in the good results within the control index have also made it a benchmark for safety management in the nonferrous mines of Chinalco. This paper analyzes and discusses the scientific methods and good experiences of the production safety of Dahongshan Copper Mine from six aspects: explosion management, organizational security, infrastructure, safety inspection and quantitative mechanism, safety training, safety science and technology, etc. Finally, it gives suggestions for the next production safety of Dahongshan Copper Mine.

This study was aimed at comparing the personality traits and safety behaviour of workers in local and foreign-based operated oil and gas companies in the Niger Delta region. Questionnaires were developed to measure workers' personality traits and level of safety behaviour. A total of 384 participants from local and foreign-operated companies participated in the survey. Descriptive statistic was used to evaluate the level of personality traits and safety behaviour among the workers. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to examine links between personality traits, safety behaviour and company type. Results showed workers in foreign-operated oil and gas companies scored higher on extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness, while workers in locally-operated companies had higher neuroticism. Workers in foreign-operated companies also demonstrated better safety participation and compliance, reporting fewer incidents. Findings from the study suggest that workers in local companies can benefit from stress management which can help locals reduce neuroticism, promote positive personality traits, and foster a safety culture. The study emphasizes the role of personality traits in safety, advocating tailored strategies for improved worker safety in the industry.
