“…Hippurites colliciatus is found from the Santonian of Austria, Italy (Apennines), Yugoslavia (Dinarids), Romania, Greece and Iran (Sanchez 1981), the Campanian-Maastrichtian of the Apennines (Cestari and Sirna 1989), Carpathians (Andrusov 1976) and in Tunisia (Negra and Philip 1986), and from the Middle Campanian of Bulgaria (Swinburne et al 1992), and Maastrichian of southern Italy (Borgomano and Philip 1989). This species is also present in Upper Senonien limestones of Turkey (Karacabey 1968;Özer 1994;Steuber et al 1998;Fenerci 1999).…”

“…Recently, this species was found in the Maastrichtian Tarbur Formation in the Zagros region in south-west Iran (Khazaei et al 2010). B. bulgaricus has been reported from the Campanian of Bulgaria (Pamouktchiev 1967;Swinburne et al 1992), Somalia (Pons et al 1992) and the Maastrichtian of Turkey (Özer 1983). The identified rudists suggest a late Campanian-Maastrichtian age.…”

“…Some specimens display well developed S pseudopillar as described by Özer (1992b) from the central Anatolia (Haymana and Salt Lake areas) and eastern Anatolia (Hekimhan area). Although, Miseia bilacunosa shows very distinct pseudopillar structure when compared with the other species of Miseia, this feature is also well known and determined in the complex species of the genus Lapeirousia like Lapeirousia plana Milovanovic (Milovanovich, 1938(Milovanovich, , 1951Pamouktchiev, 1969;Özer, 1992;Swinburne et al 1992;Plenicar, 1993). On the other hand, the primitive Lapeirousias species such as Lapeirousia aumalensis Douville, Lapeirousia zitteli Douville and Lapeirousia laskarevi Milovanovich show close resemblances with the smaller size of the valves and in the shape of the pseudopillars to Miseia bilacunosa Özer (Douvillé, 1910Özer (Douvillé, , 1915Kühn, 1932;Milovanovich, 1938Milovanovich, , 1951Klinghardt, 1944;Lupu, 1969Lupu, , 1976Pejovic, 1978;Accordi et al 1989;Plenicar, 1993;Cafau et al 1999;Steuber, 1999).…”
