The study and comparative analysis of GerdQ and GSRS Questionnaires on gastroesophageal reflux disease diagnostics

Abstract: Introduction: Clinical questionnaires have some limitations compared to instrumental diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), but clinical diagnosis of GERD based on typical symptoms is pragmatic and well-established by societal guidelines.Aim: To study the diagnostic value and provide comparative analysis of GerdQ and GSRS questionnaires regarding the GERD diagnostics based on a comparison of the questionnaires with the results of intraluminal oesophageal impedance-pH monitoring in Ukraine.Materia… Show more

“…We have also to add that the GORD questionnaires were validated and approved for everyday clinical practice as a reliable tool for GORD diagnosis and for therapy and follow-up management of the patients [38, 39]. The sensitivity of GORD questionnaire was estimated as 78.6% and specificity as 92.9% and accuracy (diagnostic efficiency) as 85.7% [40]; and sensitivity between 62 and 67% and specificity of 63–70% assessed by the Diamond study [41].…”

“…Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating scale (GSRs) scores 14 included abdominal pains (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting), reflux (heartburn, belching, acid reflux), diarrhea (fecal diarrhea, incontinence, and urgency), dyspepsia (abdominal ringing and distension, increased exhaustion), and constipation (infrequent defecation, stool tumor, incomplete defecation). Each symptom score ranged from 0 to 3.…”

“…Compared with the control, the case group had a lower BMI, worse pulmonary function, lower arterial oxygen partial pressure, and albumin concentration (p < 0.05). The median CAT scores of the case and control groups were 14 (9,19) and 9 (7,14), respectively. The median mMRC score was 2 (1, 3) for the control and 1 (0, 2) for the case group.…”
