Items with high item-scale total correlations were selected from measures of homophobia (Lumby, 1976), death anxiety (Nelson & Nelson, 1975), and a measure of nurses’ fears about tuberculosis (Heinemann, Hill, & Birkbeck, 1959). Only 2 or 3 items were selected from each scale in order to limit the time required to complete the questionnaire.…”
