Abstract:T h e addition o f nitrosyl chloride t o trans-dibenzoylethylene produces only the syn-benzoyl isomer o f 1-chloro-2-isonitrosodibenzoylethane. This compound contains a hydrogen bond. It forms t w o isomeric mono-2,l-dinitro-phenylhydrazones. W h e n boiled with hydrochloric acid it is converted into 3-benzoyl-lchloro-5-phenylisouazole. T h e reactions and derivatives o f this latter compound are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
