The Synthesis of Composite Particles in Molten Salts

Abstract: A novel process for synthesizing composite particles, named the high temperature molten salts method, is discussed in this paper. The molten salts are a reaction medium that do not take part in the chemical reaction and can be easily dissolved by water washing. By this method, composite particles were prepared in molten salts at 680-850 C. The heat released from the chemical reaction was found playing an important role to obtain the desired composite particles. The reverse martensitic transformation of the NiT… Show more

“…This means that Reaction is preferable to Reaction , which may results in phase separation of target products to LaB 6 and CeB 6 rather than a single‐phase solid solution of ternary La 1‐ x Ce x B 6 in the direct solid‐state reaction. However, the liquid molten salt medium in this work can not only make the reactants be mixed homogeneously at an atomic or molecular level, but also increase the chemical reaction rate, which makes the two reactions be carried out synchronously . Therefore, this MSS route is believed to be an effective way to prepare single‐phase solid solution of ternary La 1‐ x Ce x B 6 .…”
