Настоящий выпуск приурочен к 110-летию со дня основания журнала «Труды по прикладной ботанике, генетике и селекции». На протяжении столетней истории журнал публиковал работы в основном сотрудников ВИР и его опытных станций и участков, расположенных в контрастных климатических зонах. Институт всегда был неразрывно связан с Журналом, который стал своего рода летописью становления и развития прикладной ботаники и селекции в России. В Томах, Сериях и Приложениях к журналу были напечатаны результаты теоретических и экспериментальных исследований по систематике, морфологии, анатомии, цитологии, кариологии, географии, генетике, иммунитету, физиологии, биохимии культурных растений и их диких родичей.Следуя традиции, мы публикуем в настоящем выпуске «живые» исследования сотрудников Института, в том числе написанные совместно с учеными из других научно-исследовательских учреждений. В выпуске представлены статьи по всем разделам журнала. Мобилизация (зернобобовые) и сохранение генетического разнообразия культурных растений и их диких родичей (Чечня, Приморский край, Вологодская обл.). Изучение и использование генетических ресурсов растений (яровой ячмень в Волгоградской обл., средиземноморские староместные сорта твердой пшеницы, озимое тритикале на Северо-Западе РФ). Коллекции мировых генетических ресурсов растений: дикорастущие виды яблони (Майкоп); фасоль обыкновенная (Санкт-Петербург); брокколи (Дагестан); хлопчатник (Краснодарский край, Астраханская обл.); соя (Адлер); виды чины (Санкт-Петербург). Генетика (подсолнечник, ячмень, картофель, яровая мягкая пшеница) и идентификация генетического разнообразия культурных растений и их диких родичей для развития приоритетных направлений селекции (яровая мягкая пшеница, виноград, восковидная кукуруза), Успехи современной селекции: слаборослые адаптивные подвои персика, многопочатковая кукуруза. Систематика: выявление генетических связей между видами рода Prunus s. l. Иммунитет культурных растений и их диких родичей: устойчивость яровой мягкой пшеницы к пыльной головне, ячменя -к ринхоспориозу, яровой мягкой пшеницы -к мучнистой росе, гибридных клонов картофеля -к фитофторозу. The selection of parental pairs is carried out considering their genealogical trees and the dynamics of the lim factors of the environment, in the creation area, with further hybridization, and subsequent multiple re-sowing of the population. The Kazakhstanskaya rannespelaya variety was created by selection from the F5 hybrid combination of Novosibirskaya 67 × Omskaya 9, the Interdepartmental program DIAS. The breeding record of Novosibirskaya 67 consists of 9 and Omskaya 9 – of 37 varieties, of which 19 are of winter origin. The inheritance of ear productivity, in both varieties, followed the type of complementary epistasis, with incomplete dominance and overdominance, with a large proportion, of recessive genes. In conditions of the Northern Trans-Urals, an early-ripening, yielding line was selected in F5 - Lutescens 1227-8-79, which became the ancestor of the Kazakhstanskaya rannespelaya variety. The variety has successfully passed the State variety testing and is registered in the Qostanay, North Kazakhstan and Kokchetav regions of Kazakhstan, and in the Chelyabinsk region of the Russian Federation, according to the grain quality it is included in the list of strong varieties. In the north of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstanskaya rannespelaya is cultivated on large areas. This variety, as a genetic source, has a good variety-forming ability. With its participation, 6 varieties were created in the Research Institute of the Northern Trans-Urals. Of these, Tyumenskaya 29 and Grenada are registered in 9 and 10 zones of the Russian Federation. It is used in the breeding programs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Northern Trans-Urals is a region of intensive agriculture that needs high-yielding varieties that are resistant to lodging and a-biotic environmental factors, forming high-quality grain. In this respect, as a starting material for breeding, Canadian varieties with good technological indicators of grain and Norwegian varieties with high resistance to lodging and well-expressed economic and valuable characteristics are of interest. An important indicator when creating wheat varieties is the resistance to pre-harvest germination of grain on the root. The conjugacy of this feature with the yield is high and is expressed negatively - r = -0.922. Among the studied cultivars, Demonstrant (Norway) and 5603HR (Canada) stand out for their resistance to grain germination in the ear. Norwegian varieties are characterized by multi-grain ear, fine grain and compacted ear. Marker traits of drought resistance – the length of the upper internode and the removal of the ear, are better expressed in the standard of Omskaya 36, varieties of local selection and varietals - Laban and GN 06600 (Norway). In arid conditions, these varieties have a more pronounced yield. The best in this respect is Kazakhstan one - Astana (2.27 t/ha). The intensity was highlighted by the variety - GN 06600 (Norway) - 5.05 t/ha. The revealed conjugate relationships in the studied traits allow to purposefully conduct breeding work.
