The theory of instantaneous power in three-phase four-wire systems: a comprehensive approach

Abstract: Abstmet-Thh paper describes a holistic approach to the theory of instantaneous power in three-phase four-wire s y e tems, focusing on the original theory created in 1985 and a modified theory presented in 1994. The two theories are perfedly identical if no am-sequence volti s included in a threephase thr-wire system. However, they are different in the instantaneous active and reactive power in each phase if a aerosequence voltage a d current are included in a threephase four-wire system. Theory and computer si… Show more

“…Power flow analysis of this system in steady state is similar to that undertaken by Akagi [8] [9]. Considering a non-sinusoidal and unbalanced system, the load power consists of real power p L , imaginary power q L and zero sequence power p L-0 , which consist of an average value and an oscillating value as mentioned above:…”

“…In spite of the good behavior of the SRF-PLL under sinusoidal conditions, its performance is deteriorated when the three phase input signal becomes distorted. When the three-phase instantaneous voltage waveforms are transformed from the abc reference frame into the rotating dq reference frame by means of the Park transformation [24,25], the fundamental and (6n±1) th harmonics in the abc reference frame are represented by DC component and 6n th harmonics in the rotating dq reference frame. In the rotating dq reference frame, two low pass filters (LPFs) with high cutoff frequency, e.g.…”

“…Instantaneous power theory (and variants) determines the harmonic distortion from the instantaneous power calculation in a three-phase system, which is the multiplication of the instantaneous values of the currents and voltages [29]. The calculations may be done in αβ-coordinates as in (5).…”
