The tissue distribution and significance of B7-H4 in laryngeal carcinoma

Abstract: The costimulatory signals CD28 and B7 have been shown to control tumor invasion and metastasis by regulating T cell activation, whereas the distribution characteristics of B7-associated proteins in laryngeal carcinoma (LC) tissue are still unclear. Here, the expression of members of the B7 superfamily, including B7-H1 (PD-L1), B7-DC (PD-L2) and B7-H4, in fifty-two LC samples was determined by immunohistochemistry, and the relationship between B7-H4 and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-associated markers… Show more

“…B7-H4 could increase cell migration and invasion by targeting the angiogenic factors MMP2, MMP9 and VEGF. B7-H4 overexpression activates a variety of signaling pathways, such as the NF-κB, ERK1/2, AKT/STAT3 and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways, to promote epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and invasion of cancer cells [ 20 , 22 , 59 , 60 ]. Here, we also performed Transwell invasion and wound healing assays to evaluate the motility of CRC cells.…”

“…High expression was associated with poor overall survival (Wu et al 2016 ). In LSCC co-expression of B7-H4 with markers of epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) was described, and overexpression of B7-H4 induced their expression in LSCC cells, suggesting a causative relationship (Chen et al 2017 ).…”

“…It is the sixth most common tumor worldwide, with a five-year survival rate of approximately 50% [ 1 ]. Despite advances in treatment including surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy or their combination, adjuvant treatment with chemotherapy and molecular targeting is emerging as a more effective therapeutic option for advanced LC [ 2 , 3 ].…”
