The toxicological impact of some avermectins on human erythrocytes glutathione S‐transferase enzyme

Abstract: The drugs of the class avermectins are antiparasitic agents, which are widely used in medical and agricultural fields, especially in veterinary medicine. The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effects of avermectin derivatives such as abamectin, doramectin, eprinomectin, ivermectin, and moxidectin, which are used for internal and external mammalian parasites. Glutathione S-transferase (GST, E.C. 2.5.1.18) was purified from fresh human erythrocytes. The purification of the GST enzyme was perfor… Show more

“…E and Se with the avermectins significantly decreased those enzymes rather than the IVM or DME treatment only, which showed a non-significant difference to the control. The current results strongly agreed with the previous study that attributed those enzymatic changes in the biochemical and cellular changes to the chronic administration of avermectins (Turkan et al 2018).…”

“…IVM, but not DME, was found to significantly suppress the release of GST and GSH, which is in agreement with Turkan et al (2018) who found an inhibitory effect of the avermectins on the antioxidants. Several studies stated that Vit.…”

“…Türkan et al [195] studied the toxicological impact of some avermectins on human e-GST. Antiparasitic drugs, including avermectins, are used around the world in the treatment and prevention of parasitic diseases in animals, especially for animals fed externally [196].…”

“…As seen in Figure 1, it was observed the intense peaks of 14.4°(with the intensity of 823 (a.u.)) and 16.08°(with the intensity of 902 (a.u.)). XRD measurement results prove that the structure of Ru(II) complex had been polycrystalline due to these peaks with different intensities.…”
