The current tour guides do not meet the needs of local tour guides in the Ollon Valley, so it is necessary to develop travel guides tailored to their needs. Next, the lack of use of technology in the provision of Ollon Valley tour guides, makes it difficult for local tour guides to access up-to-date and accurate information about attractions. And lastly from the aspect of cross-cultural communication, cultural and linguistic differences between local tour guides and foreign tourists can lead to misunderstandings and make the tourist experience less enjoyable, so a better English-speaking travel guide is needed to facilitate better communication between the two parties. In the research on "Development of English Travel Guide for Local Tour Guides in Ollon Valley, Tana Toraja" the method used is the Research and development. The development method is the process used to develop and validate educational products. This method was developed in 10 stages and implemented in Community Service activities Development of English Travel Guides for Local Tour Guides in Remote Areas, Ollon Valley, Tana Toraja. The results confirms that: 1) Local tour guides are in dire need of comprehensive and informative English-speaking tour guides, which not only assist them in providing better service to tourists, but also allow tourists to have a richer and more satisfying experience during their stay in Ollon Valley Attractions, 2) Foreign tourists express a great need for comprehensive information about the attraction, including the history, culture, and activities available in the Ollon valley attraction, and 3) The development of English-language travel guides can improve accessibility for foreign tourists, improve their understanding of attractions, and provide better service.

Studies on political guided tours of “mixed cities” finds that the consumerist or touristic logics of guided tours can reinforce historical and contemporary discourses of segregation (Huss 2022b; Nathansohn 2019). Urban displacement is receiving growing visibility within urban studies. However, most literature centres on the logic of late capitalism and tends to neglect colonial history and local resistance to displacement. This paper takes an alternative path: it relates (a) the history of colonialism and ethnic cleansing of the city of Jaffa with (b) the present‐day gentrification and displacement caused by neoliberal urbanism. To unpack this entanglement, the article focuses on political city walking tours led by Internally Displaced Palestinians in Jaffa, alongside a broader repertoire of urban subaltern tactics to reclaim it—ranging from community meetings to more overtly politicised acts of protest and initiatives to disrupt gentrification. The article therefore advances debates on urban displacement and urban citizenship mobilisation through the lens of post‐colonial theories, and by adopting a participatory interdisciplinary approach—from a novel perspective that centres local knowledge, lived experiences, and grassroots activism.

Walking tours as transcultural memory activism: Referencing memories of trauma and migration to redefine urban belonging

This article maps two grids of city walking tours, conceptualizing them as expressions of transcultural memory activism. The first are walking tours in Berlin, guided by Syrian refugees, which use memorials of local traumatic history to testify to the refugees’ current traumas. The second are walking tours in an impoverished neighbourhood of south Tel Aviv, that inter-weave African asylum seekers’ travelling memories as part of the story of those streets. Analysing these tours, the article probes how references to histories of urban migration and traumatic legacies might inform contemporary political projects asserting the rights of refugees, and redefine the parameters of urban belonging. It therefore proposes a dual theoretical contribution: (1) advancing the transcultural turn in memory studies by paying greater attention to the materiality and performativity of transcultural memory and (2) enhancing research on the agency of refugees by demonstrating how they affect and expand the public memory of the contested national and urban contexts in which they travel or inhabit.
