Abstract: Mitochondrial dysfunction is thought to be central to the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease. The preferential vulnerability of dopaminergic (DA) neurons of thesubstantia nigra pars compactato mitochondrial stress may underlie their massive degeneration and the occurrence of motor symptoms.
