Abstract:Background: Distinguishing between a pathologic state and renal development is important in neonatology. Because the assessment of serum creatinine in neonates is not reliable, better biomarkers are needed. Trefoil factor 3 (TFF3) is proposed as a biomarker of kidney injury.
