The use of amplitude-integrated electroencephalography combined with continuous conventional electroencephalography during therapeutic hypothermia for an infant with postnatal cardiac arrest

Abstract: IntroductionAmplitude-integrated electroencephalography (aEEG) has been employed in therapeutic hypothermia (TH) trials of neonates after perinatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). “…EEG was sampled at 256 Hz, then analyzed using Magic Marker software (Persyst Corporation, San Diego). The following values were quantified for all recorded EEG: amplitude-integrated EEG [30], alpha-delta ratio (2 min windows) [31], standard deviation of EEG amplitude (10 s windows), spectral power integrated over 0–4 Hz, 4–8 Hz, 8–13 Hz, and 14–32 Hz (2 s windows), and two commercial algorithms (Artifact Probability and Burst Suppression Ratio, Persyst).
