The Use of an Extraoral Verification Template for Dental Implant-supported Prostheses

Abstract: This article demonstrates the utilization of a preprosthetic extraoral verification template that could be used to ensure the accuracy of the master cast from which the laboratory working model is used as the in vitro foundation for the implant-supported prosthesis framework construction.

“…If this information is not available, this technique may require an additional appointment to capture the needed information to fabricate the verification jig. Furthermore, if the existing screw-retained implantsupported interim restoration has adequate passive fit, [26][27][28] the verification jig may not be needed, and the reverse impression method could be used to capture the definitive implant cast.…”

“…In the selected case, the verification jig was designed by using the implant positions of the computer‐aided implant planning surgery. The verification jig was splinted to impression abutments by using a selfpolymerizing acrylic resin material 28 (Pattern Resin LS; GC) (Figure 3A). Place sphere‐shaped composite resin markers on the entire surface of the verification jig.…”

“…The verification stent is made intraorally then picked up in the impression to be sent to the lab. [4][5][6] This is easily performed by connecting the open tray impression heads intraorally with either a self cure (i.e. GC pattern resin, GC America, Alsip, IL) or the author's preferred choice of a light curable resin such as Triad Transheet or Triad Gel (Dentsply Prosthetics, York, PA).…”
