“…The main spectral feature of the samples is the broad resonance with peaks at -59 and -65 ppm, assigned to T 2 (-CH 2 Si(OSi) 2 (OR), R = H or CH 3 ) and T 3 (-CH 2 Si(OSi) 3 ) units, which are related to the polycondensation product of MPTS (Saravanamuttu et al, 1998;Tadanaga et al, 2000). Resonances related to TEOS polycondensation products are observed, at approximately -92, -102 and -109 ppm, which correspond to Q 2 (Si(OSi)2(OR)2), Q 3 (Si(OSi) 3 (OR)) and Q 4 (Si(OSi) 4 ) species, respectively (Fedrizzi at al., 2001;Saravanamuttu et al, 1998;Tadanaga et al, 2000). The absence of monomer species T 0 (-CH2Si(OR)3) and Q 0 (Si(OR) 4 ) is in agreement with the cluster-cluster condensation mechanism, which is expected under strongly acid conditions (Han at al., 2000).…”

“…In addition, stainless steel 316L is useful in surgical implantology, for its economy in costs compared to other conventional materials such as titanium. Steel implants are considered a health problem due to the risks that their degradation entails in the body of treated patients 7,8 . The implanted steel is subjected to corrosive conditions generated by the physiological fluids of the body.…”
