Abstract: Periodontitis is the most common inflammatory disease that leads to the destruction of the supporting tissues of the tooth. Therapeutic treatments aimed at reducing the effects of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) may be an effective adjunct to the treatment of periodontitis.
