The use of radio‐wave surgery: An underestimated method for small hyperpigmented flat or macular lesions on face

Abstract

Humans' demand to look attractive is increasing ever and it is quite usual for individuals to refer to a cosmetic surgery unit for the esthetic removal of nevi and various other benign lesions, including seborrheic keratosis, lentigo simplex, sebaceous hyperplasia, and syringoma. 1,2 There are numerous ways of treating benign lesions; nevertheless, electrosurgery, laser removal, liquid nitrogen, and surgical excision are the main techniques that have been used for this purpose. 2,3 Although choosing the appropriate treatment method is relatively easy and acceptable for papular or protuberant lesions, for small macular lesions that will be removed for cosmetic purposes it may not be so, because they are generally percepted as mild lesions by the patient and she/he usually has the anxiety of final disfigurement which may result esthetically worse than the original one.The main hurdles of cryotherapy and electrosurgery are hypopigmentation and scar depression due to excessive lateral cryodamage and lateral thermal damage, respectively. 2 Unesthetic surgical scar
