The use of SrFe12O19 magnetic nanoparticles as an efficient catalyst in the modified Niementowski reaction

Abstract: Nanomagnetic SrFe 12 O 19 was synthesized through a simple sol-gel auto-combustion and then characterized by FT-IR, XRD, EDXA, VSM, BET and SEM image. Moreover, it was used as catalyst for the first time in the modified Niementowski reaction to investigate its catalytic activity. According to the high yield of quinazolinone products obtained within short reaction times, it was found that SrFe 12 O 19 can be used as an effective and green nanocatalyst in organic reactions. The nanomagnetic catalyst can be easily… Show more

“…The spinel compounds with a general formula of AB 2 X 4 are a category of minerals with special characteristics resulting from their cubic, isomeric crystal system, including high corrosion resistance and exceptional optical and mechanical properties. Because of their remarkable properties, spinels have extensive applications in various fields of magnetism, electronics, storage and transformation of energy, and catalysts 1 6 . Hercynite (FeAl 2 O 3 ) has a tetrahedral structure, in which the distribution of ferrous and aluminum cations in its network is such that one eighth of sites are occupied by ferrous cations and aluminum cations occupy half of these sites (Fig.…”

“…Moreover, these bare iron oxide nanoparticles have more affinity towards aerial oxidation [29] . Due to the increasing consideration for the use of nanomagnetic catalysts in organic syntheses, [30,31] efforts have been made to modify the surface of MNPs to increase their catalytic efficiency. The surfaces of MNPs have been modified with various organic and inorganic compounds [32–37] .…”
