The Use of ZA and SP 36 Fertilizer on Growth and Yield of Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum)

Abstract: Red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) is a medicinal plant that contains essential oils in rhizome. In order to meet market demand, by integrated plant nutrition supply it is necessary to apply both organic and inorganic fertilization. This study aims to determine the right combination of ZA and SP 36 fertilizer doses in the growth and yield of red ginger. This esearch was conducted in March - August 2021 in Pelem, Wonorejo Village, Jatiyoso District, Karanganyar Regency, Indonesia with 762 usl and coor… Show more

“…The highest content of essential oil from ginger is zingiberene. 23,31,32 The mechanism of action of red ginger essential oil as an antibacterial is carried out by damaging cell membranes, destroying cell membrane structures, and denaturing proteins, causing bacterial cell death. Growth metabolites such as enzymes, proteins, water, carbohydrates, and organic ions are bound by the hydrophobic compounds of red ginger essential oil so that the survival needs of bacterial cells are not met.…”

“…The rhizome of the red ginger plant contains numerous beneficial essential oils. Red ginger has the maximum essential oil concentration compared with elephant ginger and empiit ginger (Pertiwi et al, 2013;Setiawan et al, 2022). Ginger is a 2-to-4-feet-tall perennial with grass-like leaves up to one foot long.…”
