Abstract:The acetylation of sulphanilamide and the synthesis of fatty acids from 2-1~C-acetate in rat liver after 450 r whole-body roentgen irradiation was studied.A depression in the liver's acetylating capacity and fatty acid synthesis was found the third day after irradiation.Cysteamine given before irradiation had no protective effect, but depressed itself the acetylation of sulphanilamide. The iodine number of the fatty acids decreased after irradiation and returned to normal on the seventh day after irradiation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
