The attitudes of midwifery students, who are being trained to perform the profession of midwifery in the future, toward doing scientific research are determining factors in increasing the quality of midwifery and strengthening evidence-based practices. Undergraduate education is an important stage in which basic research-related perspectives and skills are gained for health professions. This descriptive study aims to determine the anxiety and attitudes of midwifery students toward scientific research and to examine the variables that affect them. It was conducted at a public university in western Türkiye and included 246 undergraduate midwifery students. Midwifery students’ anxiety toward scientific research was found to be low and their attitudes toward scientific research were positive. The attitudes of students who have experience in doing scientific research, participated in scientific congresses/symposia, have the desire to do scientific research under the guidance of a consultant and follow periodicals, were found to be more positive. Anxiety and positive attitude toward scientific research were found to be negatively related. The results of the regression analysis showed that the students’ Research Anxiety affected their Attitude Toward Scientific Research. Students’ experiences of conducting scientific research reduce anxiety and affect attitudes positively. Therefore, undergraduate students should be actively involved in scientific research and activities. Keywords: Health professions education; midwifery student; research anxiety; research attitude

The production and presentation for public discussion of an end-of-programme project, thesis or dissertation are unavoidable elements for the conclusion of academic training in study programmes of various levels, namely bachelor’s, master’s and PhD. Although these end-of-programme projects may take on various forms, as well as different levels of demand, supervision in the production of these projects is one of the critical elements for their success. This article aims to analyse the supervision process, examining the supervision strategies that faculty members may mobilise in their role as academic supervisors. To this end, the authors carried out a bibliographic collection, which made it possible to substantiate the proposals set out throughout this piece of research. The results allow concluding that, to be effective and efficient, supervision strategies need to consider, as a basic assumption, that this is a pedagogical relationship, with asymmetric powers between the supervisor(s) and the student(s), in which it is paramount to acknowledge the different duties of each party. Furthermore, this relationship entails the need for flexibility on the part of the supervisor, taking into account both the characteristics of the supervisor and of the work designed and the development of the entire process, which may motivate and involve several supervision strategies in the same supervision over time/process. This whole dynamic takes place in a context where it seems important to (re)think the final product of the academic supervision process. The Lecturers’ Experiences on Students’ Thesis Supervision

Many articles regarding thesis assessment and its problems have been published for years. The dynamic of the relationship between the lecturers and their students are highly concerned. This paper, in addition, aims at investigating the lecturers’ experiences while supervising the thesis of students. 5 (five) lecturers from English Department of UIN Ar-Raniry were chosen randomly as the participants for this study. To collect the data, an open-ended interview was designed as an instrument to offer 6 (six) questions to be answered by the participants. The result of the interview showed that different strategies were applied by the participants during the supervision process. Arranging specific time of supervising was employed by each participant in order to discuss more details the thesis written. Students’ writing skill, in this case, was one of the issues highlighted that required specific handling. The result also identified the way of the participants deal with the problems arose; for instance, providing extra time of supervision for the students, asking the students to have peer-reviewed session to proof-read the thesis, and many other strategies. During the consultation period of the thesis, the lecturers believed that they built good communication and relationship with their students, which is very important as the encouragement for the students in completing their theses.
