The Value of Integrated Borehole Image Analysis to Refine Geological Models: An Example From the Greater Burgan Field, Kuwait

Abstract: Resistivity image logs are high-resolution tools that can help to unravel the depositional and structural organisation in a wellbore. They provide a particularly powerful dataset when calibrated against core, maximising their benefit for reservoir characterisation. This paper shows examples how very detailed image assessment from selected wells in the Greater Burgan Field has helped to constrain the stratigraphic model and depositional interpretations of the Cretaceous Burgan and Wara reservoirs. … Show more

“…Different from the common table maps, the borehole log has additional features. The two most obvious are the table in the borehole log has a beard phenomenon on the structure ( Figure 1, and there are many professional vocabularies in the content [3,4]. In this paper, the automatic extraction of borehole log information is proposed based on the solution of the above problems.…”

“…= 1 and sign i,k is nearest to corner No.2 on the right side of sign i,k ; after determining l, r, which makes sign l ,r .type[3] = 1 and sign l ,r .x = sign i,k .x, there is no l'∈ (i, l), r'∈ N that satisfies sign l ,r .type[3] = 1 and sign l ,r .x = sign i,k .x. sign l,r is the nearest corner No.4 mark which locates below sign i,k ; corresponding cells are obtained by using the obtained combination of corner marks No.1, No.2, and No.4.…”
