“…A Spanish single-center study examined ERCP success and adverse event rates in 3 periods defined by the number of endoscopists included, which was 5 in the first (P1), 4 in the second (P2), and 3 in the third period (P3) (2561 ERCPs, P1: 727, P2: 972, P3: 862). They found that the number of successful ERCPs was significantly greater (81% vs. 91% vs. 87% in P1, 2, 3; P<0.0001) and the frequency of PEP lower (8.5%, 7.3%, 5%; P<0.01) when endoscopists performed a higher annual volume of ERCP [ 30 ]. A systematic review and meta-analysis (31 studies) revealed similar results, showing higher procedure success rates among high-volume (HV) endoscopists (OR 1.81, 95%CI 1.59-2.06) and in HV centers (OR 1.77, 95%CI 1.22-2.57), compared to low-volume (LV) endoscopists and centers.…”

“…Eine Arbeitsgruppe aus Pamplona, Spanien, hat einen anderen Ansatz gewählt [12]. Hier wurde eine prospektive Datenbank angelegt, die den Effekt einer höheren Anzahl an ERCPs pro Untersucher analysierte.…”
