The Work Flow and Operational Model for Geotechnical Investigation Based on BIM

Abstract: Geotechnical investigation is essentially a process of information acquisition, analysis, and application. Informatization is an attractive way to improve the efficiency of geotechnical investigation. Typical approaches divide the process of geotechnical investigation into isolated stages and only focus on the local informatization of the entire process. This leads to limitations in the improvement of geotechnical investigation efficiency, misuse of geotechnical data, and interpreted results that are incorrect… Show more

“…However, digitalisation and data processing in a geotechnical investigation as a method of knowledge collection, study and implementation have not progressed as quickly as other civil engineering fields (Child et al, 2014). Zhang et al (2016) introduced a workflow in which the mainline is developing a 3D geotechnical knowledge model and a BIM-based database to improve the efficiency of geotechnical investigation. A unified tunnel information model (TIM) concept has been studied in various publications (see Koch et al, 2017;Stepien et al, 2020).…”

“…Isto resulta numa maior precisão e melhor preservação dos dados (figura 3b). A padronização do processo BIM, no entanto, ainda é um assunto que merecer a ser explorado com maior detalhe por investigadores desta área no sentido de melhorar os seus resultados [14].…”

“…Currently, the BIM technology is extensively used in the field of building structures and its application in geotechnical field is still limited. It should be noted that the BIM technology is applied earlier in the building structure and that the software's second stage development has improved; however, in the geotechnical field, the BIM technology is in its infancy (Zhang et al, 2016). The development of the BIM technology is relatively complete in the field of building structures and the software has already established a corresponding component library system.…”
