Resumo A literatura sobre a inovação e a difusão de tecnologias no agronegócio é vasta e a explicação dominante para a disseminação de inovações enfatiza o processo de influência e fluxo de informações através de um sistema social. Questões de pesquisa relativas à inovação e difusão de tecnologias ultrapassam os limites disciplinares convencionais. Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar a inovação e a difusão de tecnologias no contexto da agricultura em áreas de várzea no interior do Estado do Amazonas. Um conjunto de proposições foi desenvolvido com foco nos fatores que influenciam na concepção do processo de inovação e difusão. Através de uma pesquisa qualitativa, foram feitas entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os estágios de análise do processo mental de difusão não determinam a adoção de inovação na presente pesquisa. Os resultados sugerem que o ambiente competitivo do lado da oferta, bem como a influência das indústrias de agronegócio, assistência técnica, agenda política de desenvolvimento, projetos universitários e prática de campo podem favorecer a difusão de tecnologias. O artigo busca ampliar o atual paradigma na compreensão de inovações e na difusão, incorporando fatores operantes em um contexto peculiar de agricultura, sugerindo elementos que, se estimulados, podem ser comunicados e assimilados dentro de um sistema social.

The shop, the factory, the office: these appear, to the popular imaginary, as natural sites for accounting, and for accountants. They are the places where accounting is usually said to be invented and practised, the places where accounting sustains business. The shop stands for commerce, which reportedly saw the emergence of double-entry bookkeeping in the so-called 'commercial revolution' of the early-modern times. The factory stands out as the chief target of management accounting from the nineteenth century and its 'industrial revolution'. The office is where accounting clerks work, but also itself an object of productive accountability in the 'service economy' of the twentieth century. The farm, on the contrary, seems like a distant, almost exotic site for accounting. Who would ever picture the accountant in the fields? This impression is the consequence of a long-standing and more general historiographical bias in the study of agriculture. Our daily activities rely on a proliferating number of things that are subject to decay. As stressed in a growing body of literature, repair is critical to the smooth functioning of material infrastructure. However, this scholarship has overlooked a crucial dimension: things become fragile not only due to material degradation but also as a result of regulatory change. This article introduces the notion of “legal repair” to describe how, in the face of legal change, certain actors reassemble the material world. We elaborate on this concept through an analysis of the domestication of European Union (EU) animal welfare legislation by the French pig sector. While it was feared that stricter pig housing standards would fragilize the existing farms, pig farmers complied using technical systems that failed to significantly improve animal welfare. We analyze this domestication of EU legislation as a process of legal repair. Alongside the political work of the leaders of the pig sector, agricultural advisers also played a key role. Their work reveals the relational nature of legal repair: in the production of “local specifications” matching the demands of existing farming systems, in the negotiation of the finer points of the legislation, and in the redefinition of farming performance.
