The work programme of EURADOS on internal and external dosimetry

Abstract: Since the early 1980s, the European Radiation Dosimetry Group (EURADOS) has been maintaining a network of institutions interested in the dosimetry of ionising radiation. As of 2017, this network includes more than 70 institutions (research centres, dosimetry services, university institutes, etc.), and the EURADOS database lists more than 500 scientists who contribute to the EURADOS mission, which is to promote research and technical development in dosimetry and its implementation into practice, and to contribu… Show more

“…In the European RENEB network, the central aims are to ensure availability, quality and efficiency in assessment of individual radiation doses after an exposure by facilitating mutual assistance of international partner laboratories and to identify needs for training and harmonization in the field of retrospective physical and biological dosimetry. Similarly, within EURADOS WG10 (retrospective dosimetry), a multi-parameter approach for retrospective dose assessment has been established based on physical and biological methods and newly developed approaches are constantly evaluated (Rühm et al 2018). RENEB and EURADOS WG10 closely collaborate to provide and validate multiple methods for retrospective dosimetry that can be applied in emergency cases Ainsbury et al 2017).…”

“…As the discrepancies in literature regarding DERs on the sub-cellular scale could in principle be due to different cross section data sets employed by different codes, a code intercomparison exercise was conducted as a joint activity of Working Groups 7 "Internal Dosimetry" and 6 "Computational Dosimetry" of the European Radiation Dosimetry Group [23,24,25]. The exercise was an intercomparison of Monte Carlo simulations for the case of dose enhancement in water from two sizes (50 nm and 100 nm diameter) of single spherical gold nanoparticles (GNP) under X-ray irradiation [26,27].…”

“…The current revision of the SRA draws upon the expertise and experience of the WGs ( 11 , 12 ) and incorporates the results of a stakeholder meeting organised in 2016, with input from over 20 organisations within and outside the dosimetric community ( 13 ) . The SRA revision has since been discussed at various levels within EURADOS (WGs, Council, Voting Members) by 59 contributors.…”
