Abstract:ZEPLIN-III is a direct dark-matter search instrument using liquid xenon as a target. Both the scintillation light and the ionisation charge are measured. The instrument has been built and it is currently being testing in a surface laboratory. We present results from some of the initial testing, including design thermal control system verification, photomultiplier calibration (including spectral measurements with 60 keV photons from 241 Am) and two-phase operation showing simultaneous measurement of scintillati… Show more
An updated technical and methodological comparison of liquid noble gas experiments is presented with particular attention to the low energy physics application of double-phase noble gas detectors in direct Dark Matter investigations.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
