The β‐subunit of the gastric H+/K+‐ATPase can occur without the α‐subunit

Abstract: The renal Na+/K+-ATPase and the gastric H+/K+-ATPase both contain a-and p-subunits. We report here the identification and partial purification of a second population of the /I-subunit of the gastric H'/K+-ATPase, which has no accompanying a-subunit detectable by Coomassie blue staining or by Western blotting with monoclonal antibodies specific for the a-subunit.Proton pump; ATPase
