Theoretical analysis of the spunbond process and its applications for polypropylenes

Abstract: The theoretical analysis of the spunbond process was set up and applied to polypropylene (PP) and its blends. The effect of blending low tacticity polypropylene (LMPP) to high tacticity PP on the spinnability of the spunbond process was investigated. A small amount of LMPP was found to stabilize the high-speed spinning of PP, and very fine fibers were obtained. From the calculated results, it was speculated that the improvement of spinnability originated from the suppression of crystallization speed and strain… Show more

“…[87][88][89] In addition, the needle-punched nonwoven textile has become popular due to the diverse mechanical and physical properties that can provide different thickness and densities to meet various requirements. [90,91] The short fibers are opened, carded, and laid into a web structure, and then reinforced by using needle with barbs repeatedly punching to form needle-punched nonwoven textile. The needle-punched PET nonwoven textile has the advantages of excellent abrasion resistance, UV resistance, and thermal stability.…”

“…In order to support the experimental approach of designing spunbond processes with respect to customerspecific needs, theoretical analyses and simulation methods become a key technology. For example in [15] a physical model is developed describing the fiber properties like fiber diameter, fiber speed, strain rate, stress, temperature and crystallinity dependent on the process conditions. Mathematical models that also describe the laydown of the fibers on the belt can be found in [16] or [17].…”
