Theoretical and experimental research on the cartridge two-dimensional (2D) electro-hydraulic servo valve

Abstract: A cartridge 2D EHSV based on torque motor is proposed in this paper, which is keeping the advantages of conventional 2D valve, such as compact structure, high power-to-weight ratio, and excellent dynamic characteristics. In order to explore its dynamic characteristics, the design concept and operating principle of the cartridge 2D EHSV valve is presented first. Then the mathematical model of cartridge 2D EHSV valve is derived, especially the rotational viscous damping coefficient which is studied in detail. Th… Show more

“…There is one main reason for the error between the simulation results and experimental results. The value of the damping coefficient of the armature component in the simulation model calculation refers to the value in [3], which may be smaller. By comparing Figures 17 and 18, it can be seen that the system was reduced to −3 dB frequency, while the phase lag was slower, which is mainly related to the small design of the mechanical spring stiffness coefficient of the torque motor.…”

“…Considering the actual working conditions of the torque motor, T L = 0, but the value of B a is relatively complex, as it mainly depends on the load, that is, mechanical damping, viscous damping, transient hydraulic force, and the friction of the sealing ring of the 2D servo valve [18]. Due to the word count limitations, this section was not detailed, and the value of Ba was obtained from [3].…”

“…Hydraulic pumps are developing towards high speed, miniaturization and energy saving [11,12]. Therefore, Ruan's team proposed a novel piston pump with a design based on the "two-dimensional" concept [13][14][15], which has a single piston [16][17][18] and double rotor type [19][20][21]. The 2D piston pump with a balanced force uses the rolling friction of the roller-guide-rail mechanism instead of the sliding friction of the swash plate-slippers mechanism.…”

“…The presented work emanated from the research achievements obtained by authors' research group which is focused on two-dimensional (2D) hydraulic components. [26][27][28][29] The ''2D'' concept implies allowing the critical parts of the designed hydraulic components to have two working degree of freedom. 30 Authors' previous researches show a novel flowmeter using parallel 2D pistons as the metering units for the purpose of measuring the steady flow rate.…”
