Theoretical and Numerical Investigation of a Four-cavity TE021-Mode Gyroklystron

Abstract: Using self-consistent field theory and PIC simulation, the interaction of electron flow with HF fields in a four-cavity Gyroklystron with TE 021 -mode has been analyzed. Self-consistent field theory includes both linear theory and nonlinear theory. Optimized parameters and their corresponding efficiency, gain and bandwidth of the optimized Gyroklystron have been found. Numerical investigation using PIC simulation is also given. Parameters of the cavities which are operating in TE 021 mode are optimized to mini… Show more

“…γ i and γ f are the initial and final relativity factors and α 0 is the electron beam pitch factor. Based on (8) and (9), a non-linear code was developed in MATLAB to calculate the gain of the beam-wave interaction process and the efficiency. The efficiency and electron distribution were obtained for each cavity respectively, as shown in Figs.…”

“…Recently there has been significant progress (Pierantoni et al , 2008; Ahmed et al , 2010; Wang et al , 2008; Valsov and Antonsen, 2001; Luo et al , 2005; Singh et al , 2010; Liu and Li, 2011) in numerical simulations of the interaction between particles and fields. There are several types of code program in which the fields are calculated by using the finite difference time domain (FDTD) scheme, and the particles are described by the particle‐in‐cell (PIC) scheme.…”

“…To demonstrate the mathematical models for the design and analysis of gyroklystron using self-consistent as well as linear and nonlinear approaches; a number of literature have been published [10][11][12][13][14]. These approaches have also been adopted for the optimization of device efficiency and RF output power.…”
