Theoretical studies of muon capture on light nuclei

Abstract: We review the present status of theoretical studies of muon capture reactions on light nuclei. In particular we consider the two reactions 2 H(µ − , ν µ)nn and 3 He(µ − , ν µ) 3 H, and the most recent calculations performed within the chiral effective field theory framework. The unresolved discrepancies among the different calculations and future developments are also discussed.
