Theory of elastic properties ofSr2RuO4at the superconducting transition temperature

Abstract: This paper gives details of a predicted splitting of the superconducting transition temperature in Sr 2 RuO 4 as a function of applied uniaxial stress. We also give formulas for the discontinuities in certain thermodynamic properties such as the specific heat, the thermal expansion coefficients, and the elastic compliance coefficients at various superconducting transition temperatures.

“…In this context we can also recall a well-known property that, if the eigenvalues are degenerate (e.g. for p + ip-pairing), T SC c can be enhanced by the strain effect 38 . From these, the present result may also be viewed as a possibility for this kind of T SC c enhancement revealed even for the (non-degenerate) d-wave regime in the 2D square lattice Hubbard model.…”

“…3 and 4 for reviews of the properties of Sr 2 RuO 4 .) There is currently a reasonable consensus that in Sr 2 RuO 4 the Cooper pairs form in a spin-triplet state which breaks time reversal symmetry, [5][6][7] and that the broken time-reversal symmetry results from a two-component order parameter of E u symmetry.…”
