Abstract: Idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia is almost always associated with pathological nerve/vessel contact. Symptomatic forms of trigeminal neuralgia include cases of multiple sclerosis, infratentorial tumours and postherpetic neuralgia. Vascular malformations causing neuralgia have rarely been reported.
